This new feature at Tropical Dreams comes to you compliments of our friend Billy Peoples, "The Old Parrothead."

Each month we will feature an interview with a different "Buffettesque" artist/band as told to "The Old Parrothead."

Thank you to Billy Peoples for this wonderful feature and please stay tuned each and every month for a new interview with your favorite "Trop Rock" musician.

AN INTERVIEW WITH THE COASTAL
CAROLINA SINGER/SONGWRITER,
CHRIS BELLAMY.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
smChrisBellamy
Q. Where is your home port?
A. Wilmington, NC
Q. How did you get started in your musical career?
A. Mostly by watching my Dad and Granddaddy play guitars together.
Q. How long have you been in this business?
A. I had my first paying steady gig in 1972 at the Caf De-Ja Vu' in Raleigh at Cameron Village's Underground Subway. I did some other things for about ten years during the eighties, charter fishing, commercial fishing and owned a transmission shop all in or around Wilmington, NC. I got back into the music bus around 1992, sold the transmission shop and have played music and written songs ever since then. I still do a little fishing and occasionally will still take a charter for hire, especially if it is an old customer, or someone that's cool and possibly would look good in a bikini, hahahha!!!!!!
Q. Who or what influenced your music the most?
A. No one particular artist. I liked every one from Buck Owens to James Taylor, all the jazz greats and, of course, the man himself, Jimmy Buffett!
Q. What type venue do you prefer?
A. Any type that people have fun in and will listen to you.
Q. What are your goals for the future?
A. I hope to do better at sales of my CD's on the Internet, E-commerce, promote my web site, write more songs, develop my South Florida market and gig more in the winter in the Florida Key's and be the best that I can be. I'm gonna take a shot at doing a live CD in the Florida Keys
this winter.
Q. How many CDs do you have to your credit?
A. I have four. Island Fever, Sand Bar Party, Life in a Beach Town and Blue Water World. The first two, Island Fever and Sandbar Party have been combined into the Chris Bellamy Collection. So actually there are 3 CDs but four recordings. I have a new live CD in the works called Down In The Keys, featuring Paul Case of Case And Davidson and several other fine guest artists.
Q. Is there anything you would like people to know about you?
A. I like great music and the players that make it. I like to go fishing and hang out on the water in my boat. I love history, I hate math. I think women make the world a great place to live in, and then there's my saying, "fishing is a lot like life, you never know what you're gonna catch."
