RICH
HARDESTY
Indianapolis, IN

Jimmy
Buffett has inspired me through song to go out and find my
Margaritaville. I found that at the Pickled Parrot in Negril,
Jamaica. I have been to Jamaica about 25 times and love to sit
on the cliff at the Pickled Parrot at the west end of Negril
drinking Red Stripes, watching the sun-set, and writing songs
while talking with my Jamaican friends Rudy, G-Dog, Courtney,
Zuga and Horace. I love the Patois (broken English) language and
listening to them talk puts me in a zone.
The owner at the Pickled Parrot loves to play Jimmy as well as
some of my CDs. I remember hearing "Tin Cup Challice"
and "Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season" at the
Pickled Parrot and getting that eerie feeling of relaxation and
peace. This bar looks out over the area where (Jamaicans say)
Jimmy's plane had to land after getting shot at by the Jamaican
police. Many of the locals have a story of their own, but every
time I hear "Jamaica Mistaica" I think of Jimmy and
his friends tree top flying over Negril. The closest I had ever
gotten to that was a trip to Negril in October of 1999. I took a
small Piper from Montego Bay to Negril. I usually take a taxi
but that time I wanted to see what Negril looked like from a
small plane.
I have been writing and singing songs for ten years. I would
have never done it if I had not listened to Jimmy as a kid and
took my guitar to college with me. At this point in my life, I
am single and have no children so it is easy for me to
experience a Jimmy Buffett lifestyle. When I see an open weekend
I take off to Jamaica or drive around the state of Florida for
inspiration to keep writing songs and pumping out CDs. I
consider myself the ultimate parrothead when I am traveling
through the mountains of Jamaica on a 175 dirt bike with my
guitar on my back chasing my Margaritaville dream. I also have a
bunch of parrothead friends and thousands of us have gone to
Negril many times where I have performed Buffett songs as well
as my originals. I hope some of you enjoy my web site and music.
It never would have happened without the influence and vibes
that I got from Jimmy Buffett.

JIM
HOEHN
Milwaukee, WI
************** |
 |
"SIX
STRINGS, FIVE FINGERS, THREE CHORDS, NO PROBLEM!"
This has become the mantra of Wisconsin sportswriter turned
touring musician Jim Hoehn. Just five years ago, Jim won a local
talent contest and received a chance to play at Summerfest (a
large Wisconsin music festival). With the contest award came a
chance to record a demo tape. Dubbed the "'91 Clerical
Error Tour," Jim started playing his songs around the
Milwaukee area and received quite a response from the barroom
crowds. Jim's witty songwriting and his no-nonsense, acoustic
sound is much inspired by the works of Jimmy Buffett and Jerry
Jeff Walker.
Although he still works full-time as a sportswriter, Jim has
found enough time to get away from his desk long enough to
record two albums. Jim's first CD entitled "Playa Del
Pressbox" is a collection of 12 original tunes recorded
with a full studio band. On his follow-up album "Live at
RACAfest," Jim joins his touring partner Kevin Mulvenna for
a stipped-down acoustic live set of some of their original tunes
plus a handful of covers of songs from Jimmy Buffett, Steve
Goodman, Pat Dailey, and others.

LEE
HOWARD
Rocky Mount, NC
************** |
 |
I've
been playing music for as long as I can remember. My parents put
me in piano lessons when I was young, and in the 6th grade, I
started playing the trumpet in the school band. I stayed in the
school band through high school, picking up different
instruments along the way: the saxaphone, the drums and,
finally, the guitar. I'd practice the guitar until my fingers
were sore, put it down for a few minutes, then I'd be back at it
again.
One of the first songs I learned to play was "He Went To
Paris," written by Jimmy Buffett, which I got from a Waylon
Jennings album released about the time "Margaritaville"
hit the air waves. "Margaritaville" struck a note with
me because I've been fascinated with island life and the tropics
for as long as I've been in music.
I've played in rock bands, country bands and, being from western
Kentucky, I've played some bluegrass, too. But I was always
drawn back to the music of Jimmy Buffett. Maybe it's because we
both grew up in the South, went to Catholic schools, became
altar boys and dreamed of tropical paradises. There is something
about Jimmy's music that just fits me.
So, over the years, I've learned more and more of his songs. It
seemed like the more "Buffett" I played, the more
people wanted to hear. Then, one night someone said, "You
probably play more of Buffett's songs than Jimmy himself."
Now I perform as a solo act using the modern technology of midi
and computers as my band. I've moved to North Carolina and hang
out at the beaches and islands in the summer, playing music and
having a blast. Seems like everybody's a Parrothead when they're
near the ocean!

ISLAND
TIME
Orlando, FL
************** |
 |
Steve
and Dawn Hendrickson have been playing music together for over
10 years. They received their formal musical training at Rollins
College in Winter Park, Florida where they both studied under
members of the Florida Symphony Orchestra. While working as
yacht captains throughout the Caribbean, they learned about
steel drums and had their first set custom made in Trinidad.
What makes this band so unique is the fact that both members
play steel drums as well as a variety of other instruments. The
primary focus is two beautiful sets of "double tenor
pans", which impart a Caribbean ambiance to every song. Add
a touch of flute, guitar and percussion, and you've got the
recipe for Island Time.

BOB
KARWIN
San Diego, CA
************** |
 |
Bob
Karwin began his career 10 years ago playing to drunken mobs in
the Irish pubs of Boston. Armed with only a guitar and a
microphone, he learned quickly how to tame an unruly audience
powered by Guiness and Jack Daniels.
At the same time, he began to carve out a name in the rock &
roll market as the front man of a local band called Traveler.
Their originals, fueled by funky rhythms and quirky lyrics
written by Bob, made them a favorite around clubs and colleges
throughout New England.
In 1997, finally fed up with the cold weather, Bob moved west to
San Diego. Again, armed only with his guitar and microphone, he
hit the coffeehouse circuit playing a new batch of original
songs. He paid the bills by bartending in Pacific Beach and
doing stand-up comedy throughout Southern California.
Today, Bob is known as an exciting live performer who offers
fun, upbeat songs spiced with humor and plenty of energy. He has
been compared to Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor and the more
contemporary acts, BareNaked Ladies and Matchbox 20.
Recent highlights include airplay for his song "California
Sunshine" on Jimmy Buffett's internet radio station, Radio
Margaitaville, and sharing a bill with BareNaked Ladies at the
Volkswagen Drivefest 2000 in Anaheim.
Bob has just released his first full-length CD, "A Little
Something For Everyone." It contains 10 original tunes
ranging from the alt-pop "Here You Are" to the swingy
"California Sunshine." As the title says, the mix of
musical styles truly provides "a little something for
everyone," no matter what their musical taste.
Bob is now touring to support the CD. Book him and see the power
of a voice, a single guitar and a microphone.

KEY
WEST - THE BAND
Port Arthur, TX
************** |

"What
happens when Animal House meets Margaritaville."
Welcome to the world of Key West - The Band! Sunny Gulf Coast
beaches, sailboats and surfboards, oysters on the half shell,
and funky little pirate beer joints. Thats what the band Key
West, and their music, is all about!
Key West - The Band first washed ashore in 1993, near the
coastal town of Port Arthur, Texas. The idea for the band was
hatched in the mind of lead guitar player Jerry Diaz. A longtime
fan of recording artist Jimmy Buffetts music and lifestyle,
Diaz incorporated that into a Gulf Coast version. Since the
initial inception, the band has successfully combined elements
of Buffetts music with zydecajun, calypso, and latin
influences, to create what they fondly refer to as
"Caribbean Rock-n-Roll".
The bread and butter of Key Wests performance schedule over
the years has been club venues. The band has performed at such
places as Carlos and Charlies, the Margaritaville Caf, the
Flora-Bama, and the Tropical Isle, to name just a few. Key West
- The Band has also become a staple at many festivals throughout
the South and Southeast, as well as performing at many
corpororate, private, and fraternity parties.

THE
KEY WEST BAND
Roanoke, VA
************** |

Formed
in 1993 as a spinoff from a large touring show band, Key West
quickly eclipsed its' mother band after the release of the 1995

Touring a five or six state range, from the Carolinas to Boston,
MA, Virginia-based Key West has become a staple among central
& eastern US Parrotheads. The band's release of "Island

THE
KEY WEST TRIO
New Haven, CT
************** |
 |
When
Jimmy Buffett isn't available, try the next best thing -- a live
performance by KEY WEST TRIO! Tom, Ed and Joe have been in the
biz since the bad ol' days, playing rock and roll music and
adapting Jimmy's songs to their repertoire, which also includes
Beach Boys, Sweet Baby James, Caribbean stuff, some reggae
Beatles music and Elvis!
KEY WEST TRIO is famous for covering any artists they choose,
from Roy Orbison, Elvis, Harry Belafonte, Bob Marley and The
Beatles to Del Shannon, Freddie Cannon and Paul Anka. Jimmy
Buffett was a challenge, with his fabulous Coral Reefer Band,
horns, steel drums and vibes. So, KEY WEST TRIO did the next
best thing -- they bought all sorts of gear and gadgets,
steel-drum keyboards, fuzziolas, rikitikitavis, rumatumtums,
Aloha shirts, and handmade maracas. They studied and rehearsed,
and one day (ta-ta-ta-ta ta-ta!) they introduced KEY WEST TRIO
to the world, featuring the best of Jimmy Buffett, some old,
some new (including selections from Fruitcakes, Banana Wind,
Don't Stop The Carnival and Beach House on the Moon!). They had
only one requirement among them -- they had to sound like Jimmy
and the CRB -- and they DO!
Once you've seen KEY WEST TRIO in person, you'll agree (as do
their loyal fans!!) that they're the next best thing to a live
concert with Jimmy Buffett, or the Beach Boys or other famous
troubadors. But you need to see KEY WEST TRIO and hear 'em for
yourself! You need KEY WEST TRIO and they need you! Let's keep
up the Mardi Gras party spirit all year long! Bring your
noisemakers, maracas and tambourines and join the KEY WEST TRIO
Conga Line at their next gig!

KALAI
KING
Los Angeles, CA
************** |
 |
It
would be unfair to label Kalai King as an Alt-Country artist. It
seems in vogue to call anyone who plays acoustic guitar and has
a straightforward rock & roll approach, Y'Alternative. When
you give a listen to his music, you'll notice a wide variety of
influences. "Americana" would not be an unfair label
to attatch to him, with much of his material lending resemblance
to early Jimmy Buffett, Gram Parsons, and Bruce Springsteen. His
songs are stories. Not the sanctimonious kind that weigh you
down and make you want to loathe the whole early 70's
singer/songwriter movement. No, his disguise themselves in
engaging melodies and those ever lauded "great hooks."
And he has super powers, too. With a sense of humor, quirky
anecdotes, and laid-back conversation, Kalai has the ability to
lower a stage to the level of his audience, and dissolve the
wall that many performers hide behind. Seeing him play is like
hanging out with your guitar-pickin' buddy. Equally adept with a
poignant epilogue as he is with the, "Yo, bro, this song
kicks ass," kind of rocker, Kalai's strong songwriting and
lyrical approach ring both familiar and unique. Couple that with
his virtuosity with a harmonica, and you have a terrific live
show.
But the first thing that strikes you is his voice. Not twangy or
affected, yet not clearly polished either, it lies in the
hinterland that invokes memories of Jim Croce. Mix that with the
gruff energy of Lowell George and you have a genuine singer who
doesn't come off sounding like a man who just finished smoking
twelve packs of whiskey-flavored cigarettes.
Kalai spent his first few years after high school graduation
playing the east coast bar circuit as a solo acoustic performer
and failing out of music school, where he studied opera. His
first release, 1993's "Unplugged & Unknown" went
Aluminum after selling the meager 2,000 copies that were
produced. "I was flat busted and couldn't afford to make
any more (copies). I mean, I was jumping behind the bar between
sets to cover my tabs," Kalai recalls. "There was no
money in playing original music at the time, so I bit the
'Silver Bullet' and hit the road as a 'cover-interpreter,'
playing about thirty shows a month. One night I'd be at a beach
bar opening for Chubby Checker, faking old-school R&B tunes,
the next, I'd be behind chicken wire in Berlin, Maryland, doing
my best Blues Brothers impression. They didn't make that shit
up, you know!"
Assembling a band in 1997, Kalai toured the east coast, once
again performing his original material. Finding success with AAA
radio play and a burgeoning fan base that resulted in sold-out
shows up and down the eastern seaboard, Kalai decided to take
the plunge, quit his job, and attempt the impossible. When
opportunity presented itself in the form of film scoring and an
appealing music scene (not to mention warmer pastures), Kalai,
along with drummer Jeff Bell, moved to Hollywood, California in
the winter of 2000.
Currently finishing demos for a new record, Kalai has picked up
an agent, formed a new band, and is showcasing around Los
Angeles.

SCOTT
KIRBY
Key West, FL
************** |
 |
Scott
Kirby spent most of the eighties working as a political
consultant in his native state of New Hampshire as well as
playing a few solo gigs on the weekends. In 1988, he left his
job, packed his guitar, cashed his last three paychecks and
headed for the Florida Keys to take a break from both the real
world and the bitter New England winters. Twelve years later,
Scott finds himself performing close to 200 dates a year,
splitting his time between Key West and the road, and
working on material for his next CD.
A fingerstyle guitarist and singer/songwriter, Kirbys musical
style weaves from pop to acoustic rock to what he refers to as
beach folk. His lyrics are often storytelling in nature,
much in the style of Steve Goodman or Jerry Jeff Walker and
reflect the humor of someone who fled traditional New England
for the laid-back and zany lifestyle of Americas southernmost
island town.
While home in Key West, Scott performs regularly at the Hogs
Breath Saloon and occasionally at The Pier or Jimmy Buffetts
Margaritaville Caf. He is also an annual participant in the
Key West Songwriters Festival where he has recently shared
the stage with some of Americas finest songwriters, including
Keith Sykes, Mac McAnally, Gretchen Peters, Chuck Cannon, Pat
Alger, Chuck Jones and Stephanie Smith.
Scott released Too Damn Yankee, his debut CD of original
music, in 1993 and his second recording, Grand Bar
Schemes, was released in 1997. In 1999, Kirby released
Walkin On Thin Ice on Little Flock Records and all
three recordings are available through AMAZON.COM, CDBABY.COM
and from Little Flock.
Scott is currently working on material for his next CD, entitled
Four Good Dogs, which is due to be released in 2001 on Little
Flock Records.

know her as the lovely and dynamic sax player with Jimmy
Buffett's Coral Reefers and the co-author of such JB favorites
as: "Delaney Talks To Statues," "Bob Robert's
Society Band" and "Fruitcakes," but there's much
more to this talented artist. In her own words..............
"I still freelance in the clubs and studio when I'm not
away on tour with Jimmy Buffett. I've played on major albums for
gospel recording artists, on rap albums as well as numerous
indie album releases. Commercials (a.k.a. jingles) airing
nationally on TV and radio I've done also. I've played with such
artists as the Temptations, Clarence "Gatemouth"
Brown, Ben E. King, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, the Atlanta
Symphony Orchestra and even alongside President Bill Clinton. I
spend my days composing songs of many different musical genres,
and, until now, worked towards writing and recording my first
solo album, "INSIDE THE OUTSIDE."
"With all of the wonderfully fulfilling experiences I've
had as a musician, I must admit I dream, still, of being a
ballet dancer. Perhaps my true calling, I wonder. This makes me
often contemplate on how this whole career of mine just simply
"wouldn't be" had it not been for the government
funding behind music education in public schools when I was
young. It saddens me to speculate upon the government cutbacks
towards music education taking place today... the effects it
will have on all the lost talent and unrealized dreams to
children who literally can't afford to pursue their
ambitions....and the detrimental outcome it will have on our
world. Please, help support music education in our schools. Find

Living
Soul is THE midwest's favorite adult contemporary
"fun" band!
Voted one of the nation's best "Jimmy Buffett-style"
bands by the International Parrot Head Association!!!
Living Soul is a Midwest-based band appearing in many Michigan
cities including East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and
Saugatuck. National appearances include Chicago, Atlanta, New
Orleans, Washington D.C., Coconut Grove and Key West.
"Fingers" Taylor appears regularly with Living
Soul...check schedule for dates and times!
Living Soul is celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2001 and
there are no plans to slow down now! Starting out as just a duo,
Don & Suzi, they made a big impact on west Michigan,
particularly Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Saugatuck, and have
grown into a minimum of three, sometimes five, players.
Steady growth and increasing popularity brought them through the
year 1999, and then things were changing. There was band
"burnout" and Don wasn't sure they would be together
in 2000. One phone call changed it all. Greg "Fingers"
Taylor had quit the Coral Reefer Band and called to tell Don he
was available if he needed him. . . and "Fingers" has
been playing selected appearances with Living Soul ever since
the spring of 2000. He is featured on "I Can't Spell
Caribbean" and "A Summer to Remember", and word
has it that he intends to continue his relationship with Living
Soul. Their talents have taken them not only across the states
of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois, but to places such as
New Orleans, Atlanta, Clearwater Beach, Naples and Key West. And
the future will take them nationwide.

LOUISIANA'S
ISLAND FEVER
Baton Rouge, LA |
**************
| |
Louisiana's
Island Fever is more than just another Buffett band. The
band's tropical renditions of Buffett material and other
artists' covers, as well as numerous original songs blend like
warm summer sunlight in an amber pool.
This refreshing mixture of sound and inimitable island antics
collectively form the Louisiana's Island Fever Band.
Murray McCullough (lead vocals, guitar), Bert Toms (vocals,
guitar), Stewart Logan (pedal steel guitar), electric guitar,
vocals), Brian
Crawford (harmonica, percussion, vocals), Stan Snyder (bass
guitar, vocals), Randy Porter (drums, vocals), Byron Magbee
(congas, vocals, percussion) and Mike Snyder (sound
technician)...all incurable Parrotheads... have been sharing
this sound with audiences for some time... they love it, they
love Jimmy Buffett...they love the islands...it's a fever that
can't be broken.
